Completion of P.K. Yonge Middle-High School

P.K. Yonge, which is affiliated with the University of Florida as a developmental research school, has a new middle-high school building for its secondary students. The new 3-story building was designed to be energy efficient and foster collaboration at all levels. Opening in January, the students have made use of the flexible learning spaces, comfortable furniture and collaborative shared spaces which enhance the 21st century learning environment. SchenkelShultz created a design that engages with the outdoors. The school has a direct connection with Tumblin Creek, which runs west to east through the campus, that allowed for outdoor seating wall, environmental classrooms and a meandering pathway.
