Education Project Architect

SchenkelShultz, a 61-year old architecture firm that has been consistently ranked as a top design firm by both ENR-Southeast and Building Design + Construction, is seeking a Project Architect in our Orlando office. Our educational design portfolio totals more than 55 million SF of projects, including K-12 and higher education buildings. SchenkelShultz has been a leader in the design of 21st century educational learning environments for the past 20 years totaling more than 6.7 million SF of 21st century schools. This experience includes more than 2 million SF of international schools in Germany, Japan and Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities and qualifications we are searching for include:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project presentations and creative design solutions at the schematic level of design with Project Manager’s guidance.
  • Ability to interact with clients and demonstrate communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient at executing design development and construction documentation phases of work that are consistent with project goals and objectives with minimal oversight by Project Manager.
  • Ability to communicate ideas using SketchUp, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • General knowledge of major building systems and ability to proactively lead coordination with engineers to maintain design intent and project goals.
  • Ability to research building materials, product selection and coordinate specifications with firm’s specifications writer.
  • Assist construction administrator assigned to project with review/process of submittals/RFIs, job site visits and attend some meetings as part of learning process.

 

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in architecture from an accredited program with State of Florida architectural license or ability to become licensed within a year, preferred.
  • 5+ years minimum of relevant (education preferred) experience in an architectural office.
  • Proactive individual with a sense of urgency to multi-task on multiple projects and assignments with flexibility to work in collaborative environment with a team and independently.
  • Strong graphic skills and technical capability to critically think through the development of a design into documentation, knowledge of drawing standards, and some understanding of code requirement/compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills and highly organized individual.
  • Proficient in: Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, PowerPoint, MS Office & Outlook, and some understanding of CAD preferred.

Public Safety Project Architect

Our Municipal design portfolio totals more than 12 million SF of projects, including Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Safety and other Government projects.  We believe our passion for this type of work and relationship driven philosophy has allowed SchenkelShultz to remain a design leader in Central Florida for more than 35 years and provides a strong pathway to give back to the community.

 

SchenkelShultz has a strong culture rooted in trust, integrity, professionalism and desire to achieve design excellence.  Our team consists of talented, dedicated people who share the same enthusiasm and sense of pride.  We are searching for a passionate, self-starter, technically-proficient Public Safety Project Architect with a strong appreciation for design excellence.  Candidate must be proficient in development of construction documents including drawings and specifications with the ability to take minimal instruction and go forward with projects or project components.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to interact with clients and demonstrate communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient at executing design development and construction documentation phases of work that are consistent with project goals and objectives with minimal oversight by Project Manager.
  • Responsible for monitoring of scope, schedule and budget on architectural aspects of projects.
  • Responsible for developing architectural work plans and tasking, supervision and mentoring of assigned project personnel.
  • Ability to communicate ideas using SketchUp, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • General knowledge of major building systems and ability to proactively lead coordination with engineers to maintain design intent and project goals.
  • Provide assigned collateral duties relative to the operation of the team.
  • Perform code analysis.
  • Ability to research building materials, product selection and coordinate specifications with firm’s specifications writer.
  • Assist construction administrator assigned to project with review/process of submittals/RFIs, job site visits and attend some meetings as part of learning process.

 

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in architecture or Masters of Architecture degree from an accredited program is required.
  • Individuals with State of Florida architectural license or ability to become licensed within a year are preferred.
  • 7+ years minimum of relevant (Justice, Municipal, Law Enforcement, Public Safety and Government experience preferred) in an architectural office.
  • Proactive individual with a sense of urgency to multi-task on multiple projects and assignments with flexibility to work in collaborative environment with a team and independently.
  • Strong graphic skills and technical capability to critically think through the development of a design into documentation, knowledge of drawing standards, and some understanding of code requirement/compliance.

Architectural Intern

Seeking an energetic Architectural Intern with a professional degree from an accredited university who have started the IDP process to become licensed. Candidate must be proficient in MS Office, other project software and demonstrate strong REVIT expertise, have 2 to 5 years of experience following graduation and will be expected to perform various architectural design services on multi-discipline building design projects of moderate to large scope. This position works under close supervision of a PA/PM. Receives specific and detailed instructions regarding tasks. Performs work efforts in a timely and complete manner and understands his/her capabilities and when to seek help from mentors. Has skills in performing renderings and other design type functions. Qualified candidates should exhibit strong organizational, conceptual design, and good oral and written communication skills. Candidates should also possess a positive attitude, an outstanding work ethic and be team-oriented.
