Kaiserslautern Elementary School
Kaiserslautern, Germany
Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)
SchenkelShultz worked as the Architectural Design Consultants to CH2M Hill in providing 15% design for the new Kaiserslautern Elementary School, which replaces a 50-year old campus that had grown severely outdated over the years. The new 118,446 SF school is a modern 21st century learning environment filled with state-of-the-art technology and movable furniture that creates an adaptable learning environment. The building itself can be used as a teaching tool for sustainable practices, with rainwater cisterns and exposed ceilings, allowing students to see the inner workings of the systems that keep their environment running.
