Ramey Unit School
Aquadilla, Puerto Rico
Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)
The existing Ramey Unit K-12 School is situated on 20-acres in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico serving the USCG Air Station Borinquen. In order to align with DoDEA’s educational mission and serve the students of the 21st century, the Ramey Unit School project involves the planning and design of a new replacement school. The new 124,730 SF school campus, which will be completed through phased construction on the existing school site, will embrace the site’s amenities and provide outdoor learning hubs that bring educational opportunities outside the classroom walls. The interior educational spaces will include 21st century academic neighborhoods, consisting of learning studios and collaboration spaces that open up to a flexible learning hub. Additionally, to accommodate students of diverse ages under one roof, the floor plan has controlled and separation of grade levels with core spaces accessible to all.
