RSW Terminal Expansion

Fort Myers, FL

Lee County Port Authority

At 9 million annual passengers, the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) required an expansion to the security checkpoint areas that accommodates passengers more efficiently during peak season.  SchenkelShultz, working as a sub-consultant to Atkins North America, developed a design solution that involves replacing checkpoints at all three existing concourses with a large, central security checkpoint with 16 screening lanes. This expanded area will accommodate automated screening lanes, carry-on bag scanners and updated technology. By consolidating the checkpoints in the center of the concourse level, pre-security concessions options will be moved post-security, offering more options to passengers in each concourse.
