South Regional Library

The South Regional Library was designed to be a welcoming place for patrons, community members, and students from neighboring schools. The primary program elements within this 30,000 SF building are linked by a central circulation gallery that is filled with natural light from the clerestory window. The 21st century library includes a community meeting room with a raised platform stage, adult fiction and non-fiction areas, a young adult library space with computers, and a children’s library with a designated story time area. The technology-rich library is further enhanced by the addition of group meeting spaces throughout, which serve as quiet, isolated reading areas or places for students and community members to gather in an informal environment. In addition, it was important that this community focused facility created a strong connection to the outdoors, which was accomplished through exterior porches, reading gardens and walking paths.
