Tohopekaliga High School

Kissimmee, FL

The School District of Osceola County

Tohopekaliga High School represents the next generation of education in Osceola County. The 356,718 SF school contains traditional classroom environments, as well as adaptive classrooms with flexible furniture and movable partitions that can be easily reconfigured to accommodate a variety of academic settings. Each classroom building was designed with terraces that use solar voltaic systems and rain cisterns, which can be used by the arts program, the engineering and biomed programs, or the culinary arts program. The 21st century media center is broken into zones for collaboration, socializing, and focused work, allowing students to study and learn in a variety of ways. Another unique aspect of this design are the dedicated testing suites in the media center and auditorium, which can accommodate an entire grade level, up to 860 students, during testing times. The site for the campus also includes a future middle school, which will share a bus loop and kitchen with the high school. The plan creates a solution that will help address the long-term growth for the District.
