Dr. Phillips Academic Commons
University of Central Florida and Valencia College
The University of Central Florida (UCF) and Valencia College have partnered to create a new campus centrally located in Downtown Orlando. The first new building on the campus will be the state-of-the art Dr. Phillips Academic Commons, designed by SchenkelShultz, and Robert A.M. Stern Architects. The building creates a world-class environment for digital media, communication, public service, and health-related programs for students at both UCF and Valencia College. Transforming the way students live and learn in this new urban context, the innovative, 21st century facility will have collaborative learning spaces, classrooms, offices, computer labs, media commons / library, and space for academic and community events. Additionally, as part of the project scope, SchenkelShultz is renovating the 18,000 SF UCF Center for Emerging Media, located at the Downtown Campus. The renovation will add classrooms, collaborative student learning environments and office space.
