Windermere High School

Winter Garden, FL

Orange County Public Schools

Windermere High School is the latest version of SchenkelShultz’s prototype high school design for Orange County Public Schools. The 348,066 SF school was designed to complement the architectural style of the neighboring Winter Garden community and is the first high school in the District with a remote athletic complex, shared with Orange County Government’s Parks Department. The school contains hands-on learning labs with flexible furniture and technology, in addition to traditional classrooms, science labs and a Building Construction lab. Outside of the academic areas, the central courtyard provides a place to gather between classes and includes a rain cistern that is used to irrigate the school’s greenhouse.
